Meagan Bourret, Faculty of Health Sciences. “I did a placement in Burkina Faso in the area of child nutrition that was truly gratifying! The work I did in the community and at the different health centres taught me so much, both professionally and personally. I volunteered in this African country for seven weeks…and I am thankful for all the experiences I had. Their culture and way of seeing things are very different from my own and helped give me a different perspective on life. I learned more about myself and was able to grow as a person not just from my positive experiences…but the difficult ones too. I’m very grateful to Aeroplan for making it possible for me to do this incredible placement!” During her time in Burkina Faso, Meagan worked with health professionals and members of the community, benefitting from this chance to share some of what she had learned in her program. By the end of her placement, she and her two fellow students had developed some tools and resource materials that are now available to community members to help share important information about nutrition for children from six months to five years.
