Adam Pennell in China
It was absolutely amazing, and I have nothing but glowing reviews

Adam Pennell, student at the Faculty of Law - Common Law Section, and other uOttawa students travelled to China traveled to Beijing in late June 2012 to volunteer in the Tshinghua English Summer Camp. After a brief onsite orientation session, he began his volunteer work. His days flew by as he prepared for his day and helped Chinese students hone their English language skill through singing, debate competition and other ways.  This learning experience at TU had quite an impact on Pennell. “It was absolutely amazing, and I have nothing but glowing reviews for the university, the camp and the amazing students we had the opportunity to teach,” says Pennell. “Overall, the experience was great, and although it took a few days in the beginning to get our bearings, everything soon came together. It was an excellent experience in terms of learning to plan, managing large groups of students and navigating cross-cultural etiquette and language barriers.” After the camp, Pennell secured a volunteer position at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and at Chang’an University (based in Xi’an, China), where he taught English for three weeks.
