Ben's Day With His Hero

Ben is one of those guys who has a personality that fills up the room.  You just can’t help but to be captivated, and entertained, by his infectious smile and complete self-confidence.  Born with Pierre Robin Syndrome, Arthrogryposis, and a chromosomal translocation, life isn’t always easy for him.  But he never lets his physical limitations get in his way of doing what he sets his mind too.  Ben doesn’t have use of his arms because of the Arthrogryposis, but that didn’t stop him from learning how to skate and hold a hockey stick.

His dearest wish was to meet and skate with his hockey hero, Connor McDavid.  His wish came true earlier this year when he was made an Honourary Oiler for the Day and took to the ice for practice drills and a free skate with McDavid, Jujhar Khaira, and the rest of the team.

His mom said this afterward; “Thank you so much for making Ben’s wish come true.  It truly meant the world to him and he continues to talk about his skate with Connor McDavid, Jujhar Khaira and the Oilers.  He also loves hanging out with Hunter, the Oilers mascot.

Ben looks great in all of his hockey gear – skates, helmet, hockey stick and elbow pads and continues to improve his skating.  Thank you.  Ben said this wish would change his life and it truly has!
