Now in its fifth year, Tonembee Association is helping the remote Kenyan Village of Kithuia completely turn itself around. The inhabitants in the mud-hut village with no running water or electricity are using 500 donated solar cookers. Remarkably this small achievement has dropped cholera and typhoid rates, sanitized water, reversed drought, and returned health and vitality to the village.
Tonembee sponsors in the U.S. and Canada are providing high school education to 16 girls and boys and two university students. We are thrilled to report that the village now has its first univeristy graduate. Wanza graduates with 5 A's and 2 B's with a BSc in Enviromental Sciences!
The work continues as the villagers are now producing their own solar cookers for themselves. As 100% of donations go directly to the village, we hope that with your Aeroplan mile contributions, we will return to the village to continue to help and document what these amazing villagers have accomplished with the small amount of help we've been able to provide.
