We are thrilled to report that we are now sponsoring 18 (!) needy and qualified high school students in and around Kithuia Village, Kenya. ALSO, after receiving 300 solar cookers over a three year period from the Tonembee Association, the villagers have taken on a new project: making their own solar cookers . With raw materials donated by Tonembee their goal is to become self sufficient by making solar cookers for their own village as well as selling them to nearby villages. We expect great success since the effects of solar cooking have been so remarkable in Kithuia. The village is green again, their typhoid and cholera rates have dropped significantly, and general health and well-being is at an all time high. Three of our short documentaries from the trip will be In Selection at the LA Femme Film Festival Oct. 17 - 20, 2013.
