Fatoumata Bouaré's story embodies the invaluable power education can hold. Throughout her life, Fatoumata confronted societal expectations and norms that prevent girls from accessing higher education. She was the first woman in her community to obtain a master's degree and is now an experienced socio-anthropologist working for Lawyers Without Borders in Bamako, Mali, working so university can be a possibility for women. She is an alumni of Equitas' International Human Rights Training Program, a widly recognized program that shapes strong-willed human rights educators.
