Jimena’s darling smile is sure to melt your heart. She was unexpectedly born with a cleft lip during the height of the pandemic. Her doctors immediately informed her parents about Operation Smile in Nicaragua. Jimena didn’t have to wait long for her cleft care. Despite shutdowns, Jimena received virtual consultations to prepare her for her surgery and continued to receive nutritional care when it was safe to meet in person. Jimena thrived and received her first cleft lip surgery when it was safe in 2021.
