After fleeing persecution by both the military and insurgents, this Cameroonian woman (left) made the long journey from her home country, across the ocean, through Central America, finally arriving at the U.S. border.
She was separated from a family member who she had traveled alongside since leaving Cameroon, but her strength of spirit did not waiver. After being held in detention for months she was granted release and was assisted by our partners at Freedom for Immigrants. A volunteer host (right) shared their home, fed, and cared for her before her reunification flight; adopting this woman as her "bonus daughter!"
Our team at Miles4Migrants organized flights from California to her new home in the Mid-West of the United States where she was joyously reunited with her uncle, all thanks to donated Aeroplan miles!
