About

The David Foster Foundation is dedicated to providing financial support to Canadian families with children in need of life-saving organ transplants. In addition to helping families with their non-medical expenses, the Foundation strives to increase public awareness and education about the importance of becoming a registered organ donor in Canada and the United States.

In 1986, 16-time Grammy Award winner, David Foster, established the David Foster Foundation, a non-profit charitable organization that assists children in need of major organ transplants providing much-needed dollars in direct support. In 2006, the Foundation became a national organization expanding to help families across Canada. The Foundation works in collaboration with transplant teams to provide support for children under nineteen years of age.

When a child requires a transplant, there are many additional non-medical expenses that can create a significant and unexpected burden for families. Often families have to temporarily relocate to another city or province for their medical treatments. Months or even years of medical support is often required for children waiting for a life-saving organ transplant. The David Foster Foundation works alongside families to relieve their financial constraints to ensure that no family needs to choose between paying their bills and caring for their sick child.

The Foundation provides different levels of support for families depending on both their financial circumstances and the stage of their transplant journey. Decisions regarding support are made based on information from and in consultation with the transplant team. A family becomes eligible to apply for funding once they have been referred for a major organ transplant.
