About
We were formed in 1989 when a group of motivated parents lobbied the Ontario government as advocates for their deafblind children in an attempt to secure funding for community-based supported living programs once they finished school. Ever since, we have continued this advocacy through our mission to support individuals who are deafblind to live and thrive within the community.
Today, we support over 75 individuals who are deafblind in 22 residential locations, as well as community services programs across the province.

Reduced inequalities
The United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD) supports that all persons, regardless of their disability, have the full and equal enjoyment of all human rights and their fundamental freedoms. We authorized a position paper, sharing it with national media outlets across all levels of government, with recommendations on how we all can support the UNCRPD by recognizing deafblindness as a distinct disability. This position paper generated support both nationally and internationally. We were also part of a team, training intervenors, in Nicaragua to work with individuals who are deafblind in that country.
